Sign in to Mirin with Google, a link or a code
There is no password. Use your Google account, or let Mirin email you a link. The same email carries a six digit code for when your inbox is on another device.
On this page
Sign in with Google
If your Mirin account uses a Gmail or Google Workspace address, one button signs you in. There is no email to wait for.
Sign in to your Mirin accountMirin to [email protected]
Choose Continue with email and the email arrives here.
- Open the sign in page. Go to mirin.com/login, or choose Log in at the top of mirin.com.
- Choose Continue with Google. Google asks which of your accounts to use.
- Pick the account with your Mirin email. Google sends you back and your dashboard opens.
- Google shares your email address
- That is all Mirin asks for. Mirin never sees your Google password, and it does not read your mail, contacts or files.
- Gmail and Google Workspace sign in at once
- Google runs those mailboxes, so when it confirms the address your dashboard opens.
- Other addresses get a link
- A Google account on another email provider is sent a sign in link instead. The page says Check your email.
- New to Mirin
- If that Google account has no Mirin account, the page says You are new here. Choose Use my email, enter your address, then Create my free account.
Opened from Facebook or Instagram
Google does not allow sign in from a browser inside another app, so the button is not shown there. Open mirin.com/login in Safari or Chrome, or use the link by email.
Sign in with the link
You never make up or remember a password. Mirin emails you a link, and opening it signs you in.
- Open the sign in page. Go to mirin.com/login, or choose Log in at the top of mirin.com.
- Enter your email. Use the email address on your Mirin account and choose Continue with email.
- Open the email. Mirin sends Sign in to your Mirin account. Choose Sign in to Mirin and your dashboard opens. For Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, AOL, iCloud and Proton addresses, the page has a button that opens your inbox.
Type the code instead
The link signs in whichever device opens it. If your email is on your phone and you want to work on your computer, use the code.
- Leave the sign in page open. After Continue with email it shows Check your email and six empty boxes.
- Read the code in the email. It is the six digits under the line that starts Reading this on another device.
- Type the six digits. The page signs you in as soon as the sixth digit is in. There is no button to press.
When to use which
Email and Mirin on the same device: use the link. Email on a different device: type the code. Both come in the same email and do the same thing.
How long they last
A six digit code is short, so Mirin limits how it can be used. You are unlikely to meet these limits, and the link keeps working when you do.
- The link and the code last 15 minutes
- After that, choose Resend on the sign in page for a new email.
- Only the newest email counts
- Each new email replaces the code in the one before it. The page reminds you with New email sent. Use the code in that one.
- A code allows five tries
- After five wrong tries that code stops working. The link in the same email still signs you in.
- Ten wrong tries pause codes for an hour
- The page says Too many wrong codes. Use the link in your email, or wait an hour and try again.
An email you did not ask for
Someone may have typed your address by mistake. Nothing happens unless the link is opened or the code is typed, and both are only in your inbox. Ignore the email and it expires.
When it does not work
Each message on the sign in page tells you what to do next.
- The email has not arrived
- Check your spam folder, then choose Resend. After a resend, the button counts down 60 seconds before you can use it again.
- You are new here
- There is no Mirin account for that address yet. Choose Create my free account to start a free website, or Use a different email if you mistyped it. After Google, choose Use my email and enter your address.
- Google sign in did not finish
- Choose Continue with Google again, or enter your email for a link. Choosing Cancel at Google brings you back with nothing changed.
- That code did not work
- Check the newest email from Mirin, or use the link in it. An older email’s code is refused the same way as a wrong one.
- Too many attempts
- Mirin sends up to five sign in emails to one address in 15 minutes. Wait a few minutes, then try again.
If you deleted your account, the page says so and tells you how to restore it. See Delete your Mirin account. For the phone app, see Mirin on your phone.
Questions
- Do I need a password to sign in to Mirin?
- No. Mirin has no passwords. You sign in with your Google account, with a link sent to your email, or with the six digit code in the same email.
- Can I sign in to Mirin with Google?
- Yes. Choose Continue with Google on the sign in page and pick the Google account that uses your Mirin email address. Gmail and Google Workspace addresses sign in at once.
- What does Mirin get from my Google account?
- Your email address and whether Google confirms it. Mirin asks Google for nothing else, never sees your Google password, and keeps nothing else from Google.
- I chose Google and Mirin emailed me a link. Why?
- Your Google account uses an address that Google does not host, such as a work email on another provider. Google can only confirm Gmail and Google Workspace addresses, so Mirin emails a link to prove the inbox is yours.
- Does Mirin remember how I signed in?
- Only in your browser. The next time you open the sign in page it says Welcome back and marks the way you used with Last used. It keeps one word, Google or email, and never your address or your name. If you chose Essential only for cookies, nothing is kept.
- Why does the sign in email have a code as well as a link?
- The link signs in the device that opens it. If you asked for the link on your computer and read the email on your phone, type the code into the sign in page on your computer and it signs in there instead.
- How long do the sign in link and code last?
- Fifteen minutes. Each works once. Choose Resend on the sign in page for a new email.
- I asked for two emails. Which code do I use?
- The one in the newest email. A new email replaces the code in the one before it.
- The page says Too many wrong codes. What now?
- After ten wrong tries in an hour, codes pause for that email address for an hour. The link in your email still works, so use it to sign in.
- I did not ask for a sign in email. Is my account safe?
- Yes. Nobody can sign in without opening the link or reading the code in your inbox. You can ignore the email, and the link and code expire on their own in 15 minutes.
- Is signing in to the Mirin app the same?
- The app signs in with a link sent to your email. Google and the six digit code are for the sign in page on the web. See Mirin on your phone for the steps.
