Delete your Mirin account with or without the app

Delete your account in the Mirin app, in your dashboard on the web, or by email without signing in. Here is what happens next, how to undo it within 30 days, and what Mirin keeps.

On this page

Choose how to delete it

You can delete your account whether or not you have the app installed. All three ways end in the same place.

In the Mirin app
On iPhone or Android. It finishes right there in the app.
On the web
No app needed. Sign in to your dashboard at admin.mirin.com.
By email
No sign in needed. Write to [email protected] from the email address on your account.

Delete it in the app

Deleting sits one level in, under Account, so nobody reaches it by accident. You confirm it three times before anything happens.

  1. Open your account. In the Mirin app, tap More, then tap Account at the top.
  2. Tap Delete account. It is the last line on the Account screen, below Sign out.
  3. Read what will happen. If you own websites, deleting your account takes them offline.
  4. Type DELETE. The Delete account button turns on once the word matches. Tap it.
  5. Confirm once more. Your phone asks if you want to delete your Mirin account and shows the date it is erased. Tap Delete, and the app signs you out. Tap Cancel and nothing changes.

Delete it on the web

You do not need to install anything. Any browser works. Delete account starts closed at the bottom of your profile, so it is never one stray click away.

  1. Sign in. Go to admin.mirin.com and sign in with the email address on your account.
  2. Open your profile. Open Settings, then Profile.
  3. Open Delete account. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Delete account to open it. Read what deleting does, then click the Delete account button.
  4. Type DELETE and confirm. The window shows what will happen to your account and your websites. Type DELETE and click Delete my account. You are signed out everywhere.

Ask us by email

Use this if you cannot sign in, or would rather we did it for you.

  1. Write to us. Send an email to [email protected] from the email address on your account, with the subject Delete my account.
  2. Confirm it was you. We reply to the email address on your account and ask you to confirm the request.
  3. We delete it for you. Once you confirm, support deletes your account the same way the Delete account button does. We reply with the date your account will be erased.

Why we ask you to confirm

Deleting an account takes websites offline, so we only act on a request the account’s owner has confirmed. If a request comes from a different address, nothing happens until the owner confirms from the email address on the account.

What happens right away

What changes depends on whether you own websites or were invited to work on someone else’s. You are an owner if you own a website or pay for a subscription.

If you own websites

Your websites and subscriptions end with your account.

  • Sign in stops at once, on every device. Your phones are signed out and stop receiving notifications.
  • Every subscription the account pays for is canceled at once and does not renew. There is no automatic refund for the current period.
  • If you sell subscriptions in your store, your customers’ subscriptions are canceled at once too, so they are not charged again. They are not refunded automatically.
  • Your websites go offline at once.
  • People you invited to your websites lose access.
  • After 30 days, your account and everything in it is erased.

If you were invited to a website

Only your own access ends.

  • Your sign in stops at once, on every device.
  • Your access to the websites you were invited to ends.
  • Those websites, and the account of the person who owns them, are not affected.
  • After 30 days, your account is erased.

Change your mind within 30 days

  1. You delete itSign in stops, websites go offline and subscriptions are canceled.
  2. 30 days to change your mindEmail us and support can restore your account.
  3. Erased for goodYour account and everything in it is erased. This cannot be undone.

Within 30 days, email [email protected] and support can restore your account and bring your websites back online.

Subscriptions do not come back on their own

Deleting your account canceled your subscriptions, and your store customers’ subscriptions. After a restore, subscribe again if you want paid features. Your customers subscribe again from your store.

After 30 days the account cannot be restored. Your email address is free again, and you can use it to create a brand new account. A new account starts empty.

Questions

Can I delete my account without installing the app?
Yes. Sign in at admin.mirin.com, open Settings, then Profile, and open Delete account at the bottom of the page. Or email [email protected] from the email address on your account with the subject Delete my account.
Where is Delete account in the app?
Tap More, then Account at the top, then Delete account at the bottom of the Account screen. It is kept one level in so nobody taps it by accident.
Will I get a refund?
Deleting your account cancels every subscription it pays for at once, and none of them renew. There is no automatic refund for the current period.
I sell subscriptions in my store. What happens to my customers?
Their subscriptions are canceled at once when you delete your account, so they are not charged again. They are not refunded automatically for the current period. Mirin does not email them, and your store closes with your account, so let your customers know before you delete. Your store charges them through your own Stripe account. If that account is no longer connected to Mirin, Mirin cannot cancel them for you, so cancel them in Stripe yourself.
Can I get my account back?
Within 30 days, yes. Email [email protected] and support can restore your account and bring your websites back online. After 30 days it is erased and cannot be restored.
Can I sign up again with the same email address?
Yes, once the 30 days have passed. The new account starts empty.
I was invited to someone else’s website. What happens to it?
Nothing. Only your own sign in and access end. The website and its owner’s account are not affected.
What does Mirin keep after my account is erased?
Payment, billing and contract records for 7 years, customer support records for 3 years, and system logs for 90 days. Deleted data can stay in encrypted backups for up to 15 days. The record that a deletion happened holds no name or email address.
