Sell online

Bring your store and apps in without retyping a thing

Already selling on Shopify, Square, Wix or BigCommerce? Connect it under Website settings, then Connectors, and your products, collections, stock, customers and orders come into Mirin. Keep selling there with Mirin in sync, or move everything over once. Connect Stripe there too, and checkout takes card payments through your own Stripe account. Connect Google Analytics, Search Console, Calendar, Sheets and Drive, Microsoft Outlook, OneDrive and Excel, or Calendly, and the AI chat answers from them when you ask, even on a website without a store. Look-up apps are included with Pro and Business, store sync is part of Enterprise. Anything else you use, you can ask for.

Your catalog, without retyping it

If your products already live on another store platform, you do not build the catalog twice. Open Website settings, then Connectors, connect the store, and your products, collections, stock, customers and orders come into Mirin where your pages, search and the AI chat can use them.

  1. Paste your store addressIn All connectors, Mirin works out which platform runs it.
  2. Choose how to workKeep selling there, or move over once.
  3. See what Mirin readsBefore anything is connected.
  4. Sign inOn the platform, where you approve Mirin.
  5. Your products arriveReady to use on your pages.

Only the owner of this website can add or remove connectors.

The Connectors page has two buttons at the top and one list underneath.

Website connections

The following services are connected to your store.

No connections yet

Connect the tools you already use, or ask Mirin in the chat.

The Connectors page for a sample candle shop before anything is connected. Choose All connectors, press Detect to recognise the shop, then Continue and connect. Try an address with bigcommerce or woocommerce in it, or any other address, to see the other answers.

Choose All connectors. Under the welcome, Already selling online? takes the address shoppers use, like junipercandles.example. Press Detect. Mirin reads what the store tells any visitor and answers in one of three ways.

  • Looks like a Shopify store.. Mirin found the platform and shows the store’s address. When it can see the public catalog, it also says how many products, such as “We can see 142 products.” Choose Continue to connect with the address already filled in. Square, Wix and BigCommerce stores are named the same way.
  • Looks like a WooCommerce store. Mirin doesn’t connect WooCommerce.. Mirin recognised the platform, and it is not one Mirin connects. The same goes for Squarespace, Magento, WordPress and Etsy. You can still ask for it with Request, under Missing a connector, and start fresh in Products meanwhile.
  • We couldn’t tell which platform runs that store. Pick it below.. The address did not give it away. Find your platform in the list below, or request it.

What your plan includes

Every connector falls into one of three kinds, and your website’s plan decides which kinds you can add.

Look-up connectors, on Pro and Business
Google Analytics, Search Console, Calendar, Drive, Sheets and Business Profile, Microsoft Outlook, OneDrive and Excel, and Calendly. They are included with the Pro and Business plans, and with Enterprise.
Store sync connectors, on Enterprise
Shopify, Square, Wix, BigCommerce and Stripe checkout bring a store into Mirin or take its payments. They are part of the Enterprise plan, where selling online lives.
Custom connectors, built by Mirin
Made by the Mirin team for one business, on request. They are not sold by plan, and you cannot add your own.
No fees and no limits
There is no charge per connector and no cap on how many you connect. Your plan decides which kinds you can add, and that is all.

When your plan does not include a connector, its card carries a small chip naming the plan, and its page says so plainly in place of Add connection, with one link that fixes it.

  • Part of Enterprise.. Shown on a store sync connector’s page in place of Add connection when your plan is Pro or Business, with See plans to open Settings, then Billing.
  • Included with Pro and Business.. Shown on a look-up connector when your website is on the Free plan, with Choose a plan.
  • Set up your store first.. Shown on a store sync connector on Enterprise before the website has a store, with Set up your store.
  • Already connected? It keeps working.. A connection you made before stays connected on any plan. You can still sync it, reconnect it and manage it. Only new connections follow the plan.

Connect your apps without a store

Plenty of websites never sell anything. A therapist or a studio still wants the AI chat to know their calendar and their visitors. Look-up connectors do not need a store, so you can connect them on any Pro or Business website.

  • Open Website settings, then Connectors. Connectors sits with your website’s settings, so every website has it, with or without a store.
  • Connect a look-up connector. Sign in to Google Calendar or Analytics, say, exactly as a store would. The AI chat reads it when you ask.
  • Add a store later and nothing is lost. When the website gets a store, its connections move with it. You do not connect them again.

Questions about orders need a store

On a website without a store, the AI chat answers from your connected apps. Ask it about orders or products and it says the site doesn’t have a store yet, with Set up your store.

Connectors

Build from what you already use

Connectors let your Mirin site talk to the tools you already use, like Shopify, Stripe and Google. Ask Mirin in the chat to get started.

Already selling online? Paste your store address and Mirin finds the platform.

All connectors for the sample candle shop. Search, pick Enabled, All or a category, change the sort, open a card, request a connector, or try the + menu and Admin settings. Detect and Continue connect Shopify here too. The full list is drawn.

All connectors opens with a welcome, Build from what you already use, with View the docs and Got it. Got it hides the welcome on that device. Below it are the cards, seventeen of them: the store platforms and Stripe, then your Google and Microsoft apps and Calendly, then UPS and Google Places, with a New badge on the newest. These are the connectors Mirin supports. Anything else you use, you can still ask for.

Search
At the top of the left rail. Type a name or what you want to do, like calendar or email, and the cards narrow as you type.
Enabled and All
Enabled shows only what your store has connected. All shows every connector. Each row says how many it holds.
Categories
Ecommerce, Marketing, Messaging, Productivity, Sales, Google and Microsoft, each with its count. A connector can sit in more than one.
Sorting
Above the cards. Popular puts the most used first. A to Z and Z to A sort by name.

What you can connect today

  • Shopify connects today. Open it and choose Add connection, or use Detect. The steps are further down this guide. A green dot on its card means it is connected.
  • Square, Wix and BigCommerce connect today. Open one and choose Add connection. Square asks you to approve Mirin; on Wix you add the Mirin app to your site; on BigCommerce you install the Mirin app, then finish in Mirin. The steps are further down this guide.
  • Stripe connects today too. Open it and choose Add connection. Sign in to your Stripe account, or let Mirin set one up, and checkout takes card payments through it once Stripe says it is ready. The steps are further down this guide.
  • Your Google apps connect today. Google Analytics, Search Console, Calendar, Drive and Sheets. Sign in with Google and the AI chat answers from them when you ask. The steps are in Connect your Google apps below.
  • Microsoft and Calendly connect today. Microsoft Outlook, OneDrive and Excel, and Calendly. Sign in and the AI chat answers from them when you ask. The steps are in Connect Microsoft and Calendly below.
  • UPS is set up under Carriers. Its card opens Website settings, Store, Carriers, where you connect your UPS account so checkout shows live UPS prices. Once it is connected there, UPS shows here as Ready with Open Carriers. Changing or disconnecting it happens on Carriers. See Quote live rates with a carrier account in the shipping guide.
  • Google Places is set up under Address suggestions. Its card opens Website settings, Store, Address suggestions, where you add your own Google key so checkout suggests addresses as shoppers type. Once Google accepts the key, Google Places shows here as Ready. If Google later refuses it, the row says Not working and why. See Suggest addresses at checkout in the store setup guide.
  • Google Business Profile is on its way. Its page says what it will do, and it has a Request button. We add connectors one at a time, with no dates promised.

Selling somewhere Mirin doesn’t connect?

Mirin connects Shopify, Square, Wix and BigCommerce today. For WooCommerce, Squarespace or another platform, ask for it with Request, and meanwhile start fresh in Products, or import them from a CSV file. Stripe payments are covered in Connect Stripe below.

Request a connector with one click

Open a connector that isn’t ready yet and its page has a Request button. Choose it and it reads Requested, with “Thanks. We’ll let you know when it’s ready.” There is nothing else to fill in. We see which tools owners ask for and build the most wanted first.

  • Missing a connector?. At the foot of the left rail. Choose Request, type the tool in Add your tool, and choose Submit. This is how you ask for a tool that is not in the list, like your email or booking app.
  • No connectors match. When a search finds nothing, the page offers a Request button with the name you typed, such as Request Mailchimp.

Ask Mirin to build a custom connector

Need something the list can’t reach? The + beside the sort opens Ask Mirin to build one. Mirin builds custom connectors for your business, so you tell us what you need and the team is in touch. Fill it in and choose Send request. You can’t add your own connector or MCP server; the Mirin team builds and sets up every custom one.

What it should connect to
The tool or system, in your words, like Our booking system. This is the one thing you must fill in.
Its web address
Optional. Where it lives, if you know it.
What it should do
Optional. What you want from it, like showing open appointment times on your site.

Open a connector to see what it does

Choose any card to open its page. The top shows its state, such as Connected or Not connected, and the one thing to do next: Add connection or Request. Right under it, What you get says what the connector does for you. Connectors, at the top left, takes you back to the list.

Keep selling there, or move over once

The first step of Connect Shopify asks how you want to work with it. Both bring the same products and collections in. The difference is where you edit them afterwards.

Keep selling on Shopify. Mirin stays in sync.

Shopify stays where you manage the catalog.

  • You keep editing products in Shopify.
  • Changes there show up in Mirin on their own, and Sync now fetches them straight away.
  • It suits a shop that is building its new site in Mirin while Shopify still takes orders.

Move to Mirin. Bring everything over once.

Mirin becomes home for the catalog.

  • Everything comes over once and becomes fully editable in Mirin.
  • Nothing more comes in from Shopify after the move.
  • It suits a shop that is leaving Shopify behind.

See what Mirin will read before you connect

Connect Shopify: how do you want to work with it?

The three steps of Connect Shopify for the sample candle shop. Choose how to work with Shopify, read what Mirin will read, then Choose store, which in the product opens Shopify and brings you back connected.

The second step lists exactly what Mirin will read, in plain words, and marks the data that includes your customers’ personal details.

Products
Products, variants, pictures, prices and stock totals.
Collections
Your collections and which products are in them.
Custom fields
Your product metafields and the metaobjects they point to, such as a region or a grape.
Stock by location
How many of each variant every location holds, read in full on every sync.
Customers
Customers with an email address, their default address and marketing consent. Bringing them in never emails anyone.
Orders
Orders with their items, linked to your products and customers. Shopify shares the last 60 days unless Mirin is approved for older orders.
Reads by default
Mirin changes nothing in Shopify until you turn on sending changes back. Your customers and orders there are never changed.

Sign in with Shopify and pick your store

You never paste a key. The last step sends you to Shopify, where you choose the store and approve the Mirin app, then Shopify sends you back.

  1. On the last step, press Choose store. Mirin takes you to Shopify. Sign in with a Shopify account that can install apps for the store.
  2. Pick the store and approve Mirin. Shopify lists what the app may do. Mirin only reads until you turn on sending changes back.
  3. You come straight back to Connectors. The page says “Shopify is connected. Your products are on their way.” and the first sync starts.

Run more than one Shopify store?

Shopify opens the store you used last. Type the one to connect under Connect a specific store, as its myshopify.com address or its own web address, and Shopify opens that store. Reconnecting goes straight to the store you had connected, which Mirin fills in for you.

“The connection was cancelled in Shopify. Nothing was changed.”

You chose not to approve on Shopify, or closed the page. Nothing was connected. Start again from All connectors when you are ready.

One Shopify shop, one Mirin store

A Shopify shop can be connected to only one Mirin store at a time. If it is already connected elsewhere, Connectors says “That Shopify account is already connected to another Mirin store.” Disconnect it there first, then connect it here.

What happens next
The connection appears under Website connections as Syncing, and your products and collections fill in while you watch. You can leave the page; it keeps going.

Start from Shopify instead

You can also begin in Shopify: install Mirin from the Shopify App Store and approve it. Shopify then opens Mirin, and connecting starts on its own. Mirin checks the link really came from Shopify before it shows anything.

  1. Install Mirin in ShopifyFrom the Shopify App Store, into your store.
  2. Sign in to MirinAlready signed in? This step is skipped.
  3. Pick your Mirin storeOnly asked when you have more than one.
  4. Your products arriveShopify approves at once and the sync starts.

With one Mirin store you go straight on. With several, Mirin asks “Which store should your shop connect to?”

  • Not signed in. Mirin asks you to sign in first. The sign in link we email brings you straight back and connecting carries on. No Mirin account yet? Create one, then open Mirin again from your Shopify admin.
  • Set up your Mirin store first. You have no store in Mirin yet. Choose Set up a store, create it, then open Mirin again from your Shopify admin.
  • That link from Shopify has expired. Links from Shopify last an hour. Open Mirin again from your Shopify admin, or connect from Connectors instead.

Connect an app from the AI chat

Every connector’s page in All connectors has a Use button, such as Use Calendly. It opens your home page in the builder with the AI chat, which sets it up with you there. You can also type it, such as “connect my Shopify store”.

  1. Use it from its pageYour home page opens with the chat, which says “Enable Calendly for this store.”
  2. AllowA card names it, says what it brings, and offers Skip or Allow.
  3. Sign in thereThe same sign in as Connectors.
  4. Back in the chat“Calendly is connected.”

You land back on the page you started from, so the chat carries on where you left it.

  • Shopify and Stripe ask how first. Shopify asks Connect existing store or Create a new store, which opens Shopify’s free trial in a new tab. Stripe offers its own two ways. Anything with one way to connect goes straight to the card.
  • Your permission decides the card. Each connector’s permissions include Enable it. On Always allow there is no card and the sign in opens at once. On Never allow the chat says so and connects nothing.
  • When it does not finish. You still come back to the chat, which says why in plain words, such as “Google Analytics isn’t connected: not every box was ticked on the approval screen.”, with Connect again.
  • Free. No AI model is asked at any step, so connecting from the chat uses no credits.

Connect Square and keep selling in person

Square runs your counter and your Square Online shop. Connect it and the same items, prices and pictures show up in Mirin, ready for your pages, while you keep ringing up sales in person. Open Square in All connectors, choose Add connection, then work through the same three steps as any store.

  1. Continue to SquareOn the last step of Connect Square.
  2. Approve MirinSign in with an account that can approve apps.
  3. Your items arriveThe first sync starts at once.
  4. Kept in stepMirin checks Square every hour.

Once it is connected, its row opens to the same parts as a Shopify row, described in Sync now, and how often your store updates. Square, Wix and BigCommerce keep one schedule for everything, so Regular sync reads Every hour and every line of the table reads With the regular sync.

Items
Your items with their variations, prices and pictures. They arrive as products you can put on any page.
Categories
Your Square categories become collections, with the items in each one.

Mirin won’t change anything in Square. Your items, stock and sales there stay exactly as they are.

Your items arrive the way shoppers would see them online:

Only things you sell
Appointments, classes, donations, gift cards and memberships stay in Square, so the product count matches what you sell.
Priced at the till
An item with a price you type in at the counter has no price to sell at online. It comes in, but is not for sale.
Hidden on Square Online
An item you hide on your Square Online site comes in as a draft, so shoppers don’t see it until you list it.
Options kept
A mug sold in Size and Glaze keeps both options, with a variant for each pair.

One Square business, one Mirin store

A Square business can feed only one Mirin store. If it is already connected elsewhere, Connectors says “That Square account is already connected to another Mirin store. Disconnect it there first, then connect it here.” The store it is connected to carries on syncing as before.

Connect Wix and move when you are ready

On Wix, connecting means adding the Mirin app to your site. Open Wix in All connectors, choose Add connection, and the last step, Add Mirin to Wix, takes you to Wix. Choose the site that has your store and approve. Wix sends you straight back, and your products start arriving.

  1. Add Mirin to WixOn the last step of Connect Wix.
  2. Choose your siteThe one with your store, then approve.
  3. Your products arriveThe first sync starts at once.
  4. Kept in stepMirin checks Wix every hour.
Products
Your Wix Stores products with their options, prices and pictures, on the newer catalog and the older one alike.
Categories
Your categories, called collections on older Wix stores, with the products in each.
Stock
The count for each product option that Wix tracks by quantity. An option sold without a count stays for sale, and one you mark out of stock in Wix can’t be bought in Mirin.
Customers
Your Wix contacts with an email address, and whether they agreed to marketing email.
Orders
Your store orders with their items, linked to your products and customers.
Read only
Mirin won’t change anything in Wix. Your products, orders and contacts there stay exactly as they are.

A Wix site without Wix Stores

“Signing in to Wix isn’t switched on for Mirin yet.”

The Mirin team hasn’t switched this sign in on for your account yet. Nothing changed in your store. Request it from its page and we’ll let you know.

Connect BigCommerce and keep selling

On BigCommerce, connecting means installing the Mirin app on your store. Open BigCommerce in All connectors, choose Add connection, and the last step, Install Mirin on BigCommerce, takes you to BigCommerce. Sign in, choose the store with your products and approve. BigCommerce then shows a Finish in Mirin button. Press it, pick the Mirin store your products come into, and they start arriving.

Installed from the BigCommerce App Marketplace?

That works too. After you approve, press Finish in Mirin and sign in to Mirin if it asks. The link works once, for one hour. If it has run out, open Mirin from the Apps menu in BigCommerce and you get a fresh one.

“Connected to Mirin again”

If you install the Mirin app again on a store that was connected before, BigCommerce shows this page and a sync starts. Mirin picks up the same connection, with everything already brought in, and copies nothing twice.

Connecting again after a disconnect

Disconnecting in Mirin leaves the Mirin app installed in BigCommerce, and BigCommerce only asks for approval again after an uninstall. So uninstall it first under Apps, then My Apps, then install it again and press Finish in Mirin.

One BigCommerce store, one Mirin store

A BigCommerce store can feed only one Mirin store. If it is already connected elsewhere, Mirin says so. Disconnect it there first, then connect it here.

When a store connection needs you

Each of these shows in plain words on the Connectors page, and none of them loses anything already brought in. Here is what each one means and the one thing to do. Square is shown; Wix and BigCommerce say the same with their own name.

“The connection was cancelled in Square. Nothing was changed.”
You pressed Deny, or closed the page, on the platform’s approval screen. Start the connection again when you are ready.
“That approval link had expired. Start the connection again.”
The approval took too long. Start again from Add connection.
“Square stopped letting Mirin in. Reconnect to keep it working.”
Mirin’s access was taken back on the platform, for example by removing the Mirin app. The row shows Action needed and its Activity line says the same in other words. Press Reconnect Square: the same connection comes back, with nothing copied twice.
“That Square account is already connected to another Mirin store.”
One account can feed only one Mirin store. Disconnect it there first, then connect it here.
“Square sells in CAD and this Mirin store is set to USD, so nothing was brought in.”
The platform prices things in another currency than your Mirin store, so Mirin waits rather than show a price in the wrong currency. Change the currency under Website settings, Store, General, then press Try again. Or press Bring in anyway, and the prices come in as the platform has them.

Questions owners ask about Square, Wix and BigCommerce

Do I have to stop selling on Square, Wix or BigCommerce?
No. Choose Keep selling and carry on as you are. Mirin reads your store every hour and when you press Sync now, and it never writes anything back.
Why does Customers say 1,284 of 1,309?
Mirin brings in customers who have an email address. The ones without one stay on the platform, and the Customers line says how many so the numbers never quietly disagree, with the reason underneath: “Customers without an email address aren’t brought in.” On Wix it says Contacts. It is not a problem, so no warning appears. BigCommerce asks every customer for an email address, so its line always matches.
Can I change a product from Square, Wix or BigCommerce in Mirin?
Its details, such as the title, price, SKU, stock and pictures, are changed on the platform and arrive on the next sync. They are locked in Mirin, and the product says where to change them, so an edit is never quietly undone by the next sync. Sales channels, collections and category stay yours to change in Mirin.
What happens to an item I delete on the platform?
It is archived in Mirin, not deleted, so past orders keep their link to it. Square reports it at the next sync, and Wix and BigCommerce within a day. If it comes back on the platform, a later sync brings it back as it is there.
What does Disconnect remove?
Nothing you brought in. Mirin stops reading and forgets its access. On Square that access is handed back at once. On Wix, the Mirin app stays on your site until you remove it in Wix under Apps. On BigCommerce, it stays installed until you uninstall it under Apps, then My Apps.
I uninstalled the Mirin app in BigCommerce. What now?
The connection shows Reconnect needed and syncing stops, with everything already brought in kept in Mirin. Install the app again and BigCommerce shows “Connected to Mirin again”. The same connection picks up where it left off, with no new setup.
Access you can take back
Disconnect from the connection’s row at any time. Everything already brought in stays in Mirin and becomes fully editable.

Connect Stripe to take card payments

Open Stripe in All connectors and choose Add connection. There is nothing for Mirin to read in Stripe, so the one step says what connecting does to your checkout and asks how you want to connect.

Connect Stripe

Once connected and ready to take payments, your checkout takes card payments through this Stripe account instead of any keys saved in Store settings.

How would you like to connect Stripe?

You'll finish on Stripe, then come straight back here.

Connect Stripe for the sample candle shop. Pick a way in and choose Continue to Stripe, which in the product opens Stripe and brings you back to Connectors.

I have a Stripe account

Sign in to Stripe and choose the account to connect.

  • You sign in on Stripe and pick the account your payments go to.
  • Mirin never asks for your Stripe password or keys.
  • It suits a shop that already takes payments with Stripe.

Set one up for me

Mirin creates a Stripe account for your store.

  • You finish the details on Stripe: your business, your bank account for payouts.
  • Checkout starts using it once Stripe says the account can take payments.
  • It suits a shop that has never taken card payments.

When checkout starts using your Stripe account

Back on Connectors, the page says “Stripe is connected. Checkout takes card payments through it once Stripe says your account is ready.” If you set up a new account, Stripe may still need a few details before it can take payments.

  • Checkout switches when Stripe says the account is ready. Until Stripe says your account can take payments, checkout keeps using any Stripe keys saved in Store settings, exactly as before. Once it can, checkout takes card payments through the connected account on its own.
  • The money, the fees and the refunds are yours. Each payment is made on your own Stripe account, so it pays out to your bank, Stripe’s fees come off there, and refunds and disputes are handled in your Stripe Dashboard.
  • Refunds follow the order. An order paid before you connected is refunded through the keys it was paid with. An order paid through the connected account is refunded there.

Finish setting up Stripe

If Stripe still needs a few details, your Stripe row says Action needed with the line “Stripe needs a few details before you can take payments.” Nothing is wrong with the connection. Stripe just won’t take payments until it knows a little more about your business.

  • Finish on Stripe. Opens Stripe’s own form for your account, where it asks for what is still missing, such as your business details or the bank account your payouts go to. When Stripe can’t open that form for your account, the button opens your Stripe Dashboard, which lists what Stripe needs.
  • The row updates when you come back. Mirin asks Stripe again when Stripe sends you back, and whenever you open Connectors (at most once a minute). Once Stripe says the account can take payments, the row reads Ready with “Takes card payments”.
  • What the open row shows. Under the state line, one card has a line each for “Can take card payments” and “Payouts to your bank”, answered Yes or Not yet. Stripe has nothing for Mirin to keep in step, so there is no Sync now and no data table. The foot says when you connected, with Disconnect on the right. Disconnecting stops your checkout taking cards through that account; it goes back to any Stripe keys saved in Store settings.

Bring in orders already paid in Stripe

Orders that were paid in Stripe can come into Mirin from the Stripe row. Open it and choose Past orders, a card that stays closed until you open it, with the line “Bring in orders that were already paid in Stripe.” You can try it on the Stripe row in the figure of the Connectors page.

Import recent orders

What was paid lately.

  • One press, with no dates to pick.
  • Use it to catch up on new orders.

Import the range

Every Stripe order between two dates.

  • Set the two dates under Range first. They start on the last twelve months.
  • Use it once to bring in your history.
  • While it runs. The card counts the orders so far. Cancel import stops it, and the orders already brought in stay.
  • Recent activity. Each import is listed with its state, how many orders it brought in, when it started and how long it took.

What stays on your Store settings keys

What stays on your Store settings keys

A few things still run on the Stripe keys saved in Store setup, even after you connect Stripe here.

Memberships and subscriptions
Wine club and other memberships keep using the Stripe keys saved in Store settings for now. Keep those keys in place if you sell memberships.
Saved cards
Cards customers saved on their account also stay with the Store settings keys.

Connect your Google apps

Five Google apps connect by signing in to Google: Analytics, Search Console, Calendar, Sheets and Drive. None of them brings data into your store. Instead the AI chat reads Google there and then, when you ask, so the answer is always today’s.

Google Analytics
Your visitors, visits and page views, your top pages, and where visitors come from. Choose the property that belongs to this site.
Google Search Console
The Google searches people made before finding you, with clicks and how often you showed up, by search or by page. Choose your website.
Google Calendar
What is on your main calendar, and your free time on weekdays between 9am and 5pm. Mirin never adds or changes events.
Google Sheets
The first rows of a sheet you picked, like a price list or a timetable. Mirin can open only the sheets you pick.
Google Drive
The name, kind, last change and the start of the words of a file you picked. Mirin can open only the files you pick.
  1. Open it in All connectorsChoose Add connection on its page.
  2. Continue to GoogleSign in and approve what Mirin will read.
  3. Choose on its rowThe property, the site, or the files.
  4. Ask the AI chatIt reads Google when you ask.

Each Google app asks Google only for what it reads, and you approve each one separately.

Google Business Profile is coming soon

Reading your locations and Google reviews is built, but Google has to approve Mirin before it can be switched on. Until then its page in All connectors offers Request instead of Add connection.

Choose the property, the site or the files

After you approve on Google, you come back to Connectors and the page says the app is connected. Its row shows the Google account you signed in with. There is no Sync now: nothing is copied, so there is nothing to keep in step. Until you choose what it reads, the row says Action needed with one button, such as Choose property or Choose website, which opens the row with the chooser already started. Only one connection is open at a time, so it closes any other row you had open.

Connectors

Google Analytics is connected.

Website connections

The following services are connected to your store.

1 connector needs you

A Google Analytics connection and a Google Sheets connection for the sample candle shop. Choose a property and Save, then Change it, or choose sheets and stop sharing one. In the product, Choose sheets opens Google’s own file picker.

The open row has the same three parts for every Google app.

The state in words
Action needed with what to choose, then Ready with what it reads, such as “Reads junipercandles.example.”
One card
What Mirin may read, with its one button, Choose or Change, in the head of the card. Choosing opens inside the card.
The foot
When you connected, such as “Connected 22 hours ago”, with Disconnect on the right.

What the card asks for depends on the app.

  • Google Analytics. The card is named Google Analytics property. Choose lists every property your Google account can read, with the account it sits in, inside the card. Pick this site’s and Save, and the card reads “Mirin reads junipercandles.example for this website.” Change swaps it later.
  • Google Search Console. The card is named Search Console website. Choose lists the websites your Google account has verified in Search Console. A domain property shows as the domain alone. With none verified yet, the card says so and links to Search Console. A website Mirin hosts is verified with the HTML tag under Website settings, then Analytics; see Verify your website in Google Search Console in the Insights guide.
  • Google Sheets and Google Drive. The card is named Sheets Mirin may open (or Files Mirin may open). Choose sheets (or Choose files), in the head of the card, opens Google’s own file picker. Each one you pick gets a line in the card, under “Mirin may open only these sheets. It can’t see anything else in your Google Drive.” Add sheets (or Add files) picks more later, and the cross on a line stops sharing it with Mirin.
  • Google Calendar. Nothing to choose. Its card, What Mirin reads, says it reads your main calendar only when you or the AI chat ask.

Ask the AI chat about them

Once an app is connected and its row reads Ready, ask in your own words in the builder chat. The answer shows the numbers in a card and a line saying exactly where they came from, such as the Google Analytics property.

  • “How many visitors did the site get last week?”. Visitors, visits and page views for those dates, with a button to see the last 30 days. “Which pages did best last month?” and “Where does my traffic come from?” work too.
  • “What are people searching to find us?”. The searches that showed your site, with clicks, times shown, click rate and position. Google’s figures run about two days behind, and the answer says so.
  • “Am I free on Friday afternoon?”. Your free time on weekdays, 9am to 5pm in your website’s time zone, or your Google Calendar’s own when the website has none set. “What is on my calendar tomorrow?” lists the events.
  • “How did August go in my sales sheet?”. The chat answers from the cells, such as August’s orders and revenue, with the first rows shown below. Ask about a sheet you have not picked and it says so, with a Pick this sheet button that opens the file picker.
  • “What is our returns policy?”. When you picked a document that answers it, the chat answers from its words, even when you don’t name the document. Ask to add a returns section and it builds one instead.

The chat asks before it reads

Each Google app has its own settings under Manage my agent’s permissions on its page. On Ask each time, which is where every tool starts, the chat asks “Is that okay?” first: Allow once answers this question, and Always allow stops it asking. Asking is free: only the answer after you allow it uses credits. On Never allow, the chat says so and reads nothing.

Questions about the Google connectors

  • Does Mirin keep my Google data?. Mirin reads Google when you or the AI chat ask and saves only what you chose on the row: the property, the website, or the names of the files you picked. To answer the same question again quickly, it remembers an answer for a short while, in memory only: up to 5 minutes for Calendar, Sheets and Drive, 3 hours for Analytics and a day for Search Console, whose numbers settle days later anyway. Changing what you chose or disconnecting forgets it at once.
  • Can Mirin change anything in my Google account?. No. Every Google connector only reads. Mirin never edits your reports, sheets, files or calendar.
  • Why can Mirin not see the rest of my Google Drive?. Google Sheets and Google Drive ask Google for access only to the files you pick. Anything you have not picked stays out of reach, and you can stop sharing a file from its row at any time.
  • I use one Google account for two websites. Is that fine?. Yes. Connect it on each website and choose that website’s property or site on each row.
  • What happens when I disconnect?. The AI chat stops using it straight away. When it was the last Google connector using that Google account, Mirin also gives its access back to Google, so Mirin disappears from your Google account’s list of apps.
  • The page says signing in isn’t switched on yet. Why?. The Google connectors are still being turned on for Mirin. Nothing is wrong with your account; the button works once they are.

Connect Microsoft and Calendly

Outlook, OneDrive and Excel connect by signing in to Microsoft, and Calendly by signing in to Calendly. Like the Google apps, none of them brings data into your store. The AI chat reads them there and then, when you ask, so the answer is always today’s.

Microsoft Outlook
Your newest and unread emails by subject, sender and time, one email’s first lines when you ask about it, your Outlook calendar and your free time on weekdays.
Microsoft OneDrive
Find a file by name, and read the details and the start of the words of a file you picked, such as a Word document or a text file.
Microsoft Excel
The first rows of a sheet in an Excel workbook you picked from your OneDrive, like a price list or a stock count.
Calendly
Your upcoming bookings with who booked, how many bookings a week holds, and the kinds of meetings people can book with you.
  1. Open it in All connectorsChoose Add connection on its page.
  2. Continue to Microsoft or CalendlySign in and approve what Mirin will read.
  3. Choose files on its rowOneDrive and Excel only.
  4. Ask the AI chatIt reads there and then, when you ask.

Each app asks only for what it reads, and you approve each one separately.

When your IT admin approves Mirin

Most work and school Microsoft accounts can’t approve an outside app that reads mail or a calendar themselves. Their organisation’s IT admin approves it once, for everyone there. Personal Microsoft accounts approve for themselves. When Microsoft asks for your admin, Connectors shows a link with Copy link next to it. Your admin opens it, signs in to Microsoft and approves Mirin, and Microsoft then brings them back to this guide. Nothing changes in Mirin until you connect again.

  1. Microsoft asks for your IT adminYou come back to Connectors with a link to send them.
  2. Your IT admin opens the linkThey sign in to Microsoft and approve Mirin for your organisation.
  3. Connect againChoose Add connection. Microsoft no longer asks.

One approval covers Outlook, OneDrive and Excel for everyone in your organisation.

Pick the files Excel and OneDrive may read

After you approve, you come back to Connectors and the row shows the account you signed in with. Outlook and Calendly are ready straight away. Excel and OneDrive say Action needed, with Choose workbooks or Choose files, until you choose which files the AI chat may read from a list inside the row’s card. Each open row has the state in words, one card, and a foot that says when you connected, with Disconnect on the right.

Let the AI chat read the Excel workbooks you pick from OneDrive.

Action neededChoose the workbooks Mirin may open.

Workbooks the AI chat may read

Pick the workbooks in your OneDrive the AI chat may read.

Connected just now
An Excel connection for the sample candle shop: choose workbooks, search your OneDrive, tick and add, or stop sharing one. Switch to Outlook or Calendly to see a row with nothing to set up.
  • Microsoft Excel and OneDrive. The card is named Workbooks the AI chat may read (Files the AI chat may read on OneDrive). Choose workbooks (or Choose files), in the head of the card, opens a list inside the card with the newest files at the top of your OneDrive. Search finds one inside a folder by name. Tick the ones the AI chat may read and add them. Each gets a line in the card, the cross on a line stops sharing it, and Add workbooks (or Add files) picks more later.
  • Microsoft Outlook. Nothing to choose. Its card, What Mirin reads, says it reads your inbox and main calendar only when you or the AI chat ask.
  • Calendly. Nothing to choose. Its card, What Mirin reads, says it reads your Calendly bookings and event types only when you or the AI chat ask.

Ask the AI chat about them

Once a row reads Ready, ask in your own words in the builder chat. Each answer shows what it found in a card and says where it came from, such as your Outlook inbox or a workbook you picked.

  • “How many unread emails do I have?”. The unread count and the newest unread emails by subject, sender and time. The chat never reads an email’s words unless you ask about that one email, and then only its first lines.
  • “Am I free on Thursday afternoon?”. Your free time on weekdays, 9am to 5pm in your website’s time zone, from your Outlook calendar. When Google Calendar is connected too, say Outlook to read Outlook.
  • “What is on my price list workbook?”. The first rows of the first sheet of the workbook whose name matches your words, or the first one you picked.
  • “How many bookings do I have this week?”. The count of Calendly bookings from Monday to Sunday. “Who is booked tomorrow?” lists each booking with its time and the names of the people who booked.

The chat asks before it reads

Each app has its own settings under Manage my agent’s permissions on its page, one per thing it can do. On Ask each time, the chat asks “Is that okay?” first: Allow once answers this question, and Always allow stops it asking. Asking is free: only the answer after you allow it uses credits. On Never allow, the chat says so and reads nothing.

Questions about Microsoft and Calendly

  • Does Mirin keep my emails, files or bookings?. No. Mirin reads only when you or the AI chat ask, shows you the answer, and keeps only the names of the files you picked on the row. To answer the same question again quickly, it remembers an answer about your Outlook calendar, a file or a workbook for up to 5 minutes, in memory only. Your inbox is read fresh every time.
  • Why can’t I find a file in the list?. The list shows files in your own OneDrive. Files other people shared with you don’t show, so save a copy to your OneDrive first. Excel reads workbooks saved as .xlsx, up to 8 MB, and shows the first 25 rows of a sheet. An older .xls workbook needs saving again as .xlsx in Excel.
  • Can Mirin send emails or change bookings?. No. These connectors only read. Mirin never sends, moves or deletes an email, changes a file, or books or cancels a meeting.
  • Microsoft says my IT admin needs to approve Mirin. What now?. Copy the link Connectors shows you and send it to your IT admin. Once they approve Mirin, choose Add connection again. Nothing was connected in the meantime.
  • Can I use a personal Microsoft account?. Yes. Outlook, OneDrive and Excel work with personal, work and school Microsoft accounts. One account can serve several of your websites.
  • What happens when I disconnect?. The AI chat stops using it straight away and Mirin forgets its access. Calendly takes the access back at once. Microsoft keeps Mirin in your account’s list of apps until you remove it there, but Mirin can no longer read anything. To remove it, go to myapplications.microsoft.com for a work or school account, or account.live.com/consent/Manage for a personal one. If your IT admin approved Mirin for everyone, only they can remove it.
  • The page says signing in isn’t switched on yet. Why?. The Microsoft and Calendly connectors are still being turned on for Mirin. Nothing is wrong with your account; the button works once they are.

Selling on Shopify and Mirin
The sample candle shop’s connections: Shopify, and a Stripe account that still needs details. Switch Shopify between its states. In its row, press Sync now, switch Keep up to date automatically off and on, change how often, run one kind of data, choose See which and See all. Open Stripe and the Shopify row closes: try Finish on Stripe, Past orders and Disconnect.

Website connections is a short list, so ten or twenty connectors still fit on one screen.

  • One line per connection. The logo, the name, the account in words you know (your Shopify address, your Stripe business name or email, your Google email), one status and, when something needs you, one line saying why with one button.
  • What needs you comes first. Connections that need you sit at the top, then anything syncing, then everything that is ready, in A to Z order. A line above the list, such as “1 connector needs you”, tells you before you scroll.
  • One row open at a time. Choose a connection’s name to open it, and choose it again to close it. Opening another row closes the one you were in, and rows ease open and shut.
  • Every open row has the same shape. One line on what the connector is for, then the state in words, such as “Ready” with “Takes card payments.”, then one or more cards, then a foot with Disconnect on the right.

What the cards hold depends on what the connector does.

Shopify, Square, Wix, BigCommerce
Sync now beside the state, then one card with a switch and a table of what came in and how often, then Activity. The foot has Sync everything again and Disconnect.
Stripe
A card with a line each for “Can take card payments” and “Payouts to your bank”, answered Yes or Not yet, then a Past orders card. The foot says when you connected.
Google, Microsoft, Calendly
A card naming what Mirin may read: the property or website you chose, the files you picked, or What Mirin reads. The foot says when you connected.

Every connection is in one of six states, each with one plain word.

Ready
Working. A store says when it last synced; Stripe says it takes card payments; a Google app says what it reads.
Syncing
Bringing your data in. Open the row to watch each kind of data fill in, or leave the page.
Action needed
Something only you can do, said in one line with the button that does it, such as Finish on Stripe, Reconnect Shopify, Sync now or Choose property.
Not working
Connected, but the last attempt failed. The line says what went wrong, and Try again runs it once more.
Disconnected
Nothing syncs any more. Everything already brought in stays in Mirin, and Reconnect starts it again.
Removing
You chose to remove what came from Shopify. The row counts it down, such as “1,380 of 1,560 items done”, then leaves the page.

Sync now, and how often your store updates

Open your store’s row and everything about its sync is there, in the same order for Shopify, Square, Wix and BigCommerce. There is no separate Sync page. Try each part in the figure above.

  • Sync now. The first line says the state in words, such as Up to date, then “Last synced 12 minutes ago. Next in 48 minutes.” Sync now beside it picks up anything that changed in your store since the last sync, so a price you changed a minute ago can show on your site now.
  • Keep up to date automatically. One switch. On, the card says “Mirin checks Shopify for changes on its own.” Off, it says “Automatic updates are off.”, the row reads Updates only when you sync, the schedule goes grey and nothing comes in until you press Sync now. Every choice is remembered, so switching it back on resumes them as they were. Connecting a store again after a disconnect switches it back on.
  • A store that stopped updating. When a store set to update automatically has not synced for two days, the row turns Action needed and says so, such as “Last synced 3 days ago, though it normally updates itself”, with Sync now. With the switch off it stays Ready and says “Updates when you press Sync now.”

One table for what came in

Under the switch, one table has a line for each kind of data, with four things to read across it.

Data
One line per kind of data. On Shopify: Products, Collections, Custom fields, Custom content, Stock, Customers and Orders. While a sync runs, a line says Waiting or Fetching beside its name. A problem is never said on the line: the row says it once, above the table. If one kind of data fails, the rest still sync.
Items
What Mirin holds now. When your store has more, the line reads like “12 of 14” instead of showing a number that quietly disagrees, and the notice above the table says how many aren’t in Mirin yet.
Last synced
When that kind of data last came in, or Not yet.
How often
When it comes in again. Most lines read With the regular sync.

Choose how often

  • Regular sync. Beside the switch. It brings in everything that changed since the last run. On Shopify, choose Every hour, Every day, Every week, or Every day at a set time, which adds a time and AM or PM. Square, Wix and BigCommerce read Every hour.
  • One kind of data. On Shopify, Products, Collections and Custom fields can each keep a schedule of their own. Each starts on With the regular sync. Choose Every day, say, and that kind of data gets runs of its own as well. Custom content, Stock, Customers and Orders always come in with the regular sync.
  • Run one now. A line with a schedule of its own shows a small play button, such as Sync collections now. It runs that one kind of data straight away.

See what happened

  • What could not come in. When a sync leaves items out, one notice under the state line says how many, such as “2 collections couldn’t be brought in. Everything else is up to date.” Its one button, See which, opens the Could not come in list: each item, the problem and when, above every run. Running the same sync again rarely helps, so fix them in your store, then press Sync now.
  • Activity. The last three runs, a line each: how it ended, what it brought in (Everything or Changes only), who started it (On its own or You), how many items, how long it took and when. See all opens every run, and Show less closes it.
  • A sync in progress. The row reads Syncing now and Activity shows the run with its steps. Cancel sync stops it. What has already come in stays, and the rest waits for the next run.
  • Sync everything again. At the foot of the row. It rechecks everything in your store, not only what changed. Reach for it when something looks missing. The first sync after you connect reads your whole store the same way.

Send changes back to Shopify

Under the sync table, the Shopify row has a card called Send changes back to Shopify, with two switches. Both are off until you turn them on, so connecting on its own never changes your Shopify store. Your customers and orders there are never changed.

  • Send product changes to Shopify. A change saved in Mirin, on the product screen or from the chat, is made in Shopify first and kept in Mirin once Shopify accepts it: title, description, price, weight, SKU, tags, status and the rest. If Shopify refuses, nothing changes and Mirin says why. Stock counts, pictures and options are still changed in Shopify.
  • Lower Shopify stock when Mirin sells. A paid order on your Mirin site lowers the count in Shopify at the location it was taken from, and cancelling it puts the units that never shipped back. With it off, Shopify’s counts stay as they are and Mirin holds what it sold until the next sync.
  • Approve in Shopify first. Each needs a Shopify permission. A store connected before Mirin asked for them shows Approve in Shopify on the card; it takes you through Shopify’s sign in once, and both switches can then be turned on.

Turn it on before editing prices in two places

With Send product changes to Shopify off, a price changed in Shopify comes to Mirin on the next sync, and the product screen in Mirin locks the price with Edit in Shopify beside it. Pick one place to change prices, or turn the switch on so either place works.

Fix a problem with one button

A problem is written as one sentence with one button, right on the row, so you never have to read an error code. These are the two you are most likely to meet.

  • The last sync of your products didn’t finish. Your earlier data is still here.. Nothing was lost. Choose Try again to run the sync once more.
  • Shopify stopped accepting Mirin’s access. Reconnect to keep your store in sync.. Usually the Mirin app was removed from the store in Shopify. Choose Reconnect, sign in to Shopify again, and the sync starts again. Everything already brought in stays.

Disconnect, and keep or remove what came in

Open the connection’s row and choose Disconnect, at the right of its foot. The dialog asks “Disconnect Shopify?” and gives you two choices before anything happens. Try both in the figure above.

Keep what’s in Mirin

The choice the dialog starts on.

  • Syncing stops and nothing more comes in.
  • Products, customers and everything else already brought in stay, and become fully editable in Mirin.
  • Connect the same shop again any time and Mirin picks up where it left off, with nothing copied twice.

Also remove everything from Shopify

For a clean slate.

  • Removes the products, collections, custom fields, stock and customers that came from Shopify, plus the orders Mirin copied from it.
  • The dialog lists what goes, such as “142 products, 12 collections and 1,284 customers”, and the button reads Disconnect and remove.
  • Connecting again later brings it all back from Shopify.

Removing runs in the background. The row reads Removing and counts down, and once it is done the connection leaves the page. These always stay:

  • Orders taken in Mirin always stay. Removing only touches what came from Shopify. An order copied from Shopify stays too when you recorded something on it in Mirin, such as a fulfillment or a refund.
  • Products your orders name are archived, not deleted. A product that an order in Mirin, an open cart or a subscription still names is archived instead, so it leaves your store but your order history keeps it. Connecting the same shop again brings it back as it is in Shopify.
  • Customers who ordered in Mirin stay. A customer who came from Shopify but has placed an order in Mirin keeps their record, so their orders still show who bought.
  • Nothing changes in Shopify. Disconnecting deletes nothing in Shopify, whichever you choose. Only what Mirin sent while sending back was on stays as Shopify accepted it.

While a sync is running, wait for it to finish before you remove anything. The dialog says so and holds the button until it is done. Square, Wix and BigCommerce connections disconnect the same way. Disconnecting a BigCommerce store leaves the Mirin app installed in BigCommerce, but Mirin keeps no access to it. To connect that store again, first uninstall the Mirin app in BigCommerce (Apps, then My Apps), then add the connection again. Stripe and Google bring in nothing to remove, and custom connectors keep what they brought in, so their dialog only disconnects.

If you moved your store to Mirin

Removing takes out the products Shopify brought in, including any changes you made to them in Mirin. The dialog warns you before you confirm. Choose Keep what’s in Mirin to hold on to your edits.

Ask the chat about what came in

Once your products are in Mirin, the AI chat in the builder can answer questions about them in your own words, such as “how many products are in Winter Candles?” It answers from the store data that has come in, because that data now lives in Mirin.

  • Answers, not changes. Products and collections that come from Shopify are changed in Shopify and sync down. The chat reads them and puts them on your pages, and never writes anything back.

See everything the chat can do with your store in AI page edits.

Questions owners ask

Will connecting change anything in my Shopify store?
No. Connecting only reads. Mirin changes something in Shopify only when you turn on Send product changes to Shopify or Lower Shopify stock when Mirin sells on the Shopify row. It never changes your customers or orders there, and disconnecting deletes nothing.
Can I edit connected products in Mirin?
While you keep selling on Shopify, the details Shopify owns are locked in Mirin, with Edit in Shopify beside them, and changes made there come in on the next sync. Turn on Send product changes to Shopify and they can be changed in Mirin too, on the product screen or from the chat, except stock counts, pictures and options. If you chose Move to Mirin, or you disconnect, the products become fully editable in Mirin.
Do my customers and orders come across?
Yes. Customers with an email address come across, and orders from the last 60 days, which is what Shopify shares until Mirin is approved for older orders. Nobody is emailed and nothing is charged when they come in. Orders and customers from Shopify are changed in Shopify; Mirin shows them read only.
Do my customers’ subscriptions come across?
No. Mirin doesn’t bring in subscription plans or the subscriptions your customers signed up for. Those stay in the app that made them, because Shopify only lets that app read them. If your business needs them in Mirin, ask us about a custom connector, described at the end of this guide.
What happens if I reconnect the same shop later?
Mirin picks up the connection you had before, with its sync history and everything it already brought in. Nothing is copied twice. The first sync after reconnecting reads your whole shop, so changes made while it was disconnected come across too.
I removed everything from Shopify. Can I get it back?
Yes. Connect the same shop again and the first sync reads your whole shop, the way a brand new connection does. Products that were archived because an order named them come back as they are in Shopify, so nothing is copied twice.
How long does removing take?
A few seconds for a small shop, and around half a minute for one with several thousand products. It runs in the background, so you can leave the page. If it stops part way, the row says Not working and Try again carries on from where it stopped.
Can I connect my Shopify shop to two Mirin stores?
No. A Shopify shop can be connected to only one Mirin store. Disconnect it from the other store first.
Do I need an access token or a custom app?
No. You sign in to Shopify and approve the Mirin app for your store. Mirin never asks you to paste a key. Connections made earlier with an access token keep working, and Shopify’s page in All connectors asks you to sign in once to bring in customers and orders.

Custom connectors made for your store

Sometimes the data you need sits where a public connector can’t read it. Shopify, for one, only lets an app read the subscriptions it created, so subscribers signed up through a subscription app stay out of reach. For cases like that, Mirin builds a custom connector for your store alone, much like a Shopify custom app. When your store has one, a Custom connectors section appears on the Connectors page. When it has none, nothing extra shows. To ask for one, choose the + in All connectors, then Ask Mirin to build one. Owners can’t add their own; the Mirin team builds and sets up each one.

Custom connectors

Made by Mirin for your store alone. No other store can see them.

A custom connector on the sample candle shop’s Connectors page. Switch between Ready to connect and Being set up, choose Connect, then try Sync now, the switch and Disconnect in its row, or View to open its page.
Built for your store
Each one carries a Custom badge and the line Built by Mirin for your store. We make one when your business needs something the public connectors can’t reach.
Only you see it
It appears under Custom connectors on your Connectors page and nowhere else. No other store can find it in All connectors.
Nothing to sign in to
The Mirin team sets up its access with you. There is no token to paste and no approval page. You choose Connect and it starts.
  • Connect. On its card or on its page. The notice reads that it is connected and its first sync has started, and the connection appears under Website connections.
  • Sync now. Works like any store connection. Its open row has the same state line, the same switch, a table with a line for each kind of data, Activity, and Disconnect at the foot.
  • Counts you can trust. Each sync checks Mirin’s count against the platform’s, so a line reading “36 of 38” tells you two haven’t come in yet.
  • Being set up. Until the Mirin team finishes its setup, its row says Being set up and has no Connect button. Its page says there is nothing for you to do. Contact support if you are waiting on it.
