Group products into collections shoppers browse
A collection turns a pile of products into a page worth browsing. By the end of this guide you will have shoppable collections like Bordeaux and Under $30, and you will know when to hand-pick products and when to let rules do the work for you.
You will find everything here in your dashboard. Open E-commerce, then Catalog, then Collections.
What collections do
A collection is a group of products with its own page on your store. Shoppers browse collections the way they browse aisles. Your wine shop might have Bordeaux for everything from that region, Under $30 for budget browsers, and Staff Picks for the bottles you personally recommend.
The same product can live in many collections at once. Bordeaux Rouge 2021 can sit in Bordeaux, Under $30, and Staff Picks without being duplicated. You manage the product once and the collections decide where shoppers find it.
Manual or automated: the one decision that matters
When you create a collection you choose its type, and the choice shapes how much upkeep it needs. A manual collection holds exactly the products you add, in exactly the order you drag them into. An automated collection holds whatever matches its rules, and products join and leave on their own as your catalog changes.
You pick each one. Drag to reorder.
Products join and leave on their own.
Go manual when order is the point
Seasonal features, staff picks, a curated gift guide. You want a specific bottle first and a specific story told, so you hand-pick and arrange it yourself.
Go automated when a rule can say it
Anything you can define by tags, price, or product type. Every red under $30, every bottle tagged bordeaux. New arrivals slot in without you touching the collection.
Building automated rules
An automated collection is just a list of conditions. Each condition row picks a field, a comparison, and a value, like Tag equals bordeaux or Price is less than 30. Then you choose whether a product must match all conditions or any of them. As you edit, a live preview shows exactly which products qualify right now.
Add a condition pick a field, a comparison, and a value. For Under $30 that is Price, is less than, 30.
Choose all or any all narrows the group, any widens it. One condition works the same either way.
Watch the live preview the matching count updates as you type, so you catch a wrong rule before you save.
The payoff. When you add a new $24 Cotes du Rhone next month, it appears in Under $30 the moment you save it. When you raise a price past $30, that bottle quietly leaves. The collection stays honest without you maintaining it.
Sorting and publishing
Every collection has a sort order that decides what shoppers see first, and a Published toggle that decides whether they see it at all. A draft collection is invisible on your storefront, so you can build a Holiday Gift Guide in October and flip it on the day the season starts.
Manual
You drag products into place. The default for hand-picked collections.
Best selling
Your proven bottles rise to the top automatically.
Price, low to high or high to low
Lead with value, or lead with the good stuff.
Newest
Fresh arrivals first. A natural fit for a New Arrivals collection.
Alphabetical
Predictable order for long reference lists.
| Collection | Type | Products | Status |

| Holiday Gift Guide | Manual | 12 | Draft |
Collection image and search presence
Each collection can carry a hero image with alt text, plus its own SEO title and description. The image gives the collection a face wherever it is featured, and the alt text describes it for shoppers using screen readers. The SEO fields decide how the page reads in a search result. Fill them in once and search engines get proper titles automatically, no extra setup needed.
Where collections show up
A collection is more than its own page. In the page builder you can drop a featured collection block on your homepage, add a collection banner to a landing page, or build category navigation so shoppers move between Bordeaux, Under $30, and Staff Picks in one click. See the storefront guide for every block you can place.
Collections also work as discount scopes. Instead of picking products one by one, you can point a discount at a whole collection, like 15 percent off everything in Bordeaux. Because an automated collection keeps itself current, the discount always covers the right bottles. See the discounts guide for how scopes work.
