Give every printed piece its own QR code
Make a campaign link for the counter sign, the bag cards and the card that goes home with a case. Each one gets a short address and a QR code on your own domain, and Insights, Campaigns shows the scans, visits, sign ups, club joins and orders it brings in, against your daily revenue goal.

Make a link for each printed piece
A QR code that opens your homepage tells you nothing. Give each printed piece its own campaign link and you can see which one earned what: the sign by the register, the card in every bag, the card that goes home with a case.
Campaigns
Sep 11, 2026 to Oct 10, 2026New campaign link
One link for each printed piece, so you can see which one earned what.
- Open Insights, then Campaigns. Select New campaign link.
- Name it after the piece, such as Counter sign or Bag cards, October. Only you see the name.
- Choose what it opens. Select Choose to pick one of your pages or collections, or type an address such as /wine-club/join.
- Check the short address. It fills in from the name. Shorten it if you like, such as /go/club. Printed codes point at it, so it cannot change once the link is made.
- Check the tags. Source, Medium and Campaign start as the first word of the name, qr, and the page the link opens. Change them to whatever reads well in your reports.
- Add the printed line, the one sentence under the code, then select Make link. The code opens straight away.
- Name
- What you call the piece. It names the row in Insights, Campaigns and the code dialog.
- Opens
- A page or collection on your own website, so the visits and orders it brings are counted. A full address of one of your pages is kept as its path.
- Short address
- Your website address, then /go/ and a short name made of lowercase letters, numbers and single dashes. It is permanent.
- Campaign tags
- Source, Medium and Campaign are added to the page address when someone scans, with the short name as a fourth tag, so every report and Google Analytics can tell the pieces apart.
- Printed line
- Up to 140 characters under the code, such as Scan to join the wine club. You can change it before every print.
One link for each print run
Bag cards for October and bag cards for November are two links, so each run has its own row. Two pieces for the same push can share a Campaign tag and still keep their own rows.
Download the code and print it
Right after Make link, the code opens. Come back to it any time by selecting the link’s name in the Campaigns table.

Point your phone camera at the code on your screen. It should open the page you chose. Then print one sheet, scan the paper, and print the rest.
What happens when someone scans
The short address lives on your own domain, so the code keeps working whatever you change later, and every scan is counted on the way through.
- A phone opens the codeThe camera reads yourdomain.com/go/club.
- Mirin counts the scanOn its own server, with no cookie, before anything else.
- The page opensWith the link’s tags added to its address. Nobody waits for the count.
- The tags stay for the visitPage to page, until the tab closes.
- What they do is creditedA form sign up, a club join or an order.
Change where a link opens at any time in Edit. Codes already printed follow it.
- Every scan
- Each time a phone opens the code, including people who turn analytics off. Scanning twice counts twice.
- Not counted as scans
- Link previews in chat apps, search engine crawlers, a browser loading the page ahead of time, and archived links.
- Visits, sign ups and orders
- Followed for visitors who allow analytics, the same as every report in Insights. The tags are kept for the browsing session only.
- Club joins and their charges
- A club sign up keeps the tags of the visit it came from, and every club charge after it is credited to the same link.
See what each piece brought in
Open Insights, then Campaigns. Choose the dates in the header, the same period every report reads, and each printed piece shows what it earned.

A visit is one browsing session. Visits, sign ups, club joins and orders are credited to the first campaign tags of the visit. Scans count every time a code is opened, even by people who turn analytics off.
- Scans
- Times the link’s code or short address was opened in the period. Only campaign links have scans.
- Visits
- Browsing sessions that arrived with these tags. A scan that turns into a visit counts in both.
- Sign ups
- Forms sent on your website during those visits, such as a newsletter or contact form.
- Club joins
- Club memberships that started in the period. The column appears when your store has a club.
- Orders
- Website orders and club charges, counted the way the Revenue goal counts them.
- Revenue
- What those orders brought in after refunds, with its share of your daily goal beneath it.
One row for each piece
- Your campaign links
- One row for each link, the ones that earned the most first, even before their first scan.
- Other tags
- Visitors who came in on any other tagged address, such as a newsletter, grouped by source, medium and campaign.
- Direct and other
- Everyone else: typed in, searched for, or followed from another website.
- Total
- All of it for the period. Total revenue matches the Revenue goal for the same days.
Your daily goal sits on top
With a goal set on Sales, the top of the report shows it beside your online revenue a day and the part of it campaigns brought, so you can see how far each piece moves you. Without one, Set a goal takes you there. See Set a daily revenue goal.
Change, archive or restore a link
Each link row has a menu at its end. Nothing here breaks a code you have printed.
- Select a link’s name. to open its code, downloads and print sheets.
- Edit. changes the name, the page it opens, the tags and the printed line. The short address stays, so printed codes follow the change.
- Copy short address. for a post, an email or a text message, with no code at all.
- Archive. stops counting a link. Its code still opens its page, so a card someone kept never lands on an error.
- Restore. from the archived links under the table counts it again.
Credit goes to the first tags of a visit
Someone who scans the counter sign and later opens your newsletter in the same browsing session is credited to the counter sign. Every report in Insights reads the same days and time zone, explained in Read insights.
Common questions
- Do I need my own domain?
- No. The short address uses your website’s address: your own domain once it is connected, otherwise your Mirin address. Connect your domain before printing, so the code carries the address you will keep.
- Why are there more scans than visits?
- A scan counts every time a code is opened, including people who turn analytics off or scan twice. A visit counts a browsing session from someone who allows analytics.
- Does a QR code ever expire?
- No. It holds your short address, which works as long as your website does. Archiving a link stops the counting, not the code.
- Can I point a printed sign somewhere new?
- Yes. Edit the link and choose another page. Every code already printed opens the new page from then on.
- Are sales at the register included?
- No. Orders and revenue are your website checkout and club charges, the same as the Revenue goal. Sales rung up in the shop are not in Mirin.
- Who sees the sales columns?
- The website owner sees club joins, orders and revenue. Teammates who can read Insights see scans, visits and sign ups.
